Frank DeMarco, teaching associate professor of hospitality and tourism, recently received the Excellence in Tourism Education Award from the West Virginia Hospitality & Travel Association.

The award recognizes an individual, group of individuals, or program that furthers the professionalism of the tourism industry through education or training. Nominees must be affiliated with a West Virginia tourism business, organization, or educational institution with a tourism track.

DeMarco was nominated for the award by the WVU Hospitality Club, one of the Chambers College’s student organizations.

“Through his work at WVU, Frank is a true leader in the hospitality and tourism fields in our state,” said Jordan Nuzum, membership director for the WVHTA. “Whether it's helping provide resources for the Nemacolin Hospitality Lab or going above and beyond to make sure students have professional development opportunities, Frank leads the way in educating students and connecting them with tourism employers.”
