Paul Speaker Appointed Fred T. Tattersall Distinguished Teaching Chair in Finance

Paul Speaker, professor in the Finance department, has been appointed as the Fred T. Tattersall Distinguished Teaching Chair in Finance for the Chambers College.

Endowed by Fred T. Tattersall, a Finance alumnus and longtime supporter of the Chambers College, this position honors professors who have demonstrated excellence as teachers. Speaker was selected on account of his teaching prowess, having been recognized as the Finance department’s Outstanding Teacher twelve times in his career. He was also the Chambers College’s first recipient of the WVU Foundation Outstanding Teaching Award – the highest teaching award in the university – in 1990.

This year, our College welcomed the highest incoming freshman class to date – more than 600 incoming first-year students. Our Undergraduate Recruitment team goes above and beyond to provide a personalized experience for our admitted students. “Call and letter writing campaigns are completed with the purpose of a) assisting with the application process, b) answering any questions students and their parents may have, and c) making students feel special. Many other colleges do not employ the methods that we do.
